Antique English Carved Dog Sculpture circa 1890
A charming naïve hand-made antique English sculpture of a dog carved from a single piece of timber from England circa 1890. Please notice the erect posture of the dog as he sniffs the breeze for possible prey. The quality of this piece is evident by the skill utilized by the sculptor in portraying the dog seated on his haunches with his tail curled around his hindquarters. He is obviously meant to be viewed from all sides and most likely was placed on a table as a constant reassuring presence.
