Antique English Georgian Style Crystal Wine Spirits Liquor Decanter England circa 1850

An elegant antique English Georgian style crystal decanter from England circa 1850. The body of the decanter has an attractive taper to the base where the slightly slanted sides are separated by a deep groove. These divisions number seven in total and are repeated in the sections above. The centre section is defined by two rings with the lower ring larger than the upper ring while the slender neck also has seven distinct facets in repetition of the body. The rim of the decanter is flared and has a flat top with an inner sloped edge to guide the stopper when it is replaced. The stopper is a solid piece of crystal with a slightly irregular shape indicative of its hand made quality. The underside of the base also features a large cut crystal starburst that refracts the light available in the room through any liquid in the decanter giving it an extra sparkle. As spirits were an everyday part of living a decanter such as this was always used and enjoyed with meals as it will continue to do today.
