Antique English Jelly Mould Mold England circa 1880
An antique English oval ceramic kitchen jelly mold mould featuring a geometric pattern from England circa 1880. The use of a mould to create an edible jello or custard was an integral part of a beautifully prepared dinner since at least the seventeen hundreds and kitchens always possessed an assortment of moulds in a variety of patterns. The point of a mould was to add to the visual interest of the food presented at the table as it was as necessary for the meal to be a pretty as possible as it was for the food to be delicious. The amazing shapes and sheer imaginative ideas about what food could look like are embodied in each of the moulds we have on offer. The simplicity of the monochromatic glaze and the attractive profile of each piece ensure they will be a focal point whether displayed as a single object or as part of a collection. We have several of these moulds on offer-please be sure to explore the website to see them all.
