Antique Chinese Green Glazed Pottery Balustrade Posts China circa 1875

These unusual antique Chinese balustrade posts from China circa 1875 were originally part of a staircase that lead to an upper pavilion. Please use the enlarge and zoom feature on the photographs to see the subtle details both in the design and colour of each post. Made entirely by hand each post shows an unglazed section at each end where they would have been encased in mortar for security. Now these unique objects from late 19th century China are striking artifacts with their own sculptural appeal. We see them placed singly amongst other objects or as a collection or they would be equally effective mounted upon a wall to create a graphic impact. These balustrade supports would aslo be exceptionally striking lamps.
