Antique English Chippendale Style Carved Oak Chair circa 1860

This handsome antique English Chippendale style carved oak chair circa 1860 embodies the simple design aesthetic of Georgian period England created by Thomas Chippendale. The simple four straight legs are joined by an "H" shaped stretcher (used for stability and strength) while the dynamic pattern of the back splat and the raised shoulders have a classic appeal. Please enlarge the photographs to see the details of this chair that give it modern desirability as it is almost sculptural in its effect. The seat has ben covered in a contemporary fabic and because it is a slip seat the upholstery may be easily changed.
