Antique English Edwardian Period, Faux Painted Mirror, circa 1910 (20"w x 24"h)

A lovely antique English Edwardian period tortoise shell faux painted oval frame surrounding the original beveled mirror circa 1910. The outer edge on this frame has been ebonized with a glossy black lacquer while the inner section of the frame features a faux painted tortoise shell. In the section of ebonizing there is a raised pattern that resembles foliage. The beautiful tendrils move across the surface and capture light in a particularly fascinating manner. The section adjacent to the original beveled mirror glass is where the fine faux painting of tortoise shell appears with ample space to see its distinctive pattern. In addition to the beautifully decorative appearance of this mirror and frame it also has the ability to hang both vertically or horizontally as needed.
