Antique English George III Period Mahogany Dressing Table Chest Mirror circa 1790 (15"w x 21 1/2"h)

An antique English George III period mahogany dressing table top chest mirror from England circa 1790 having a shaped front with three drawers for storage and standing on ogee feet. The original mirror glass has aged well and while reflective gives a marvelous sense of the passage of time. The interior of the frame that surrounds the mirror glass retains the original gilded fillet that secures the mirror within the frame. Because the mirror itself is suspended between the two vertical supports it was always designed to be able to tilt backward and forward depending upon whether it was placed on top of a table or a chest of drawers. Now this eighteenth century piece has almost become an artifact that will benefit from being part of a display of curious objects especially with the mysterious depth of the aged mirror.
