Antique English Painted Drop Leaf Table England circa 1875

The great versatility of this antique English painted drop leaf table from England circa 1875 comes from it being able to be used in different configurations. With two working leaves that may be dropped individually this table has three positions in which it may be used. Standing on four turned legs (each with a beautifully tapered shape embellished with ring turnings and incised grooves to provide visual distinction) joined by an apron there is a large drawer at one end with a pierced back drop bail handle. The drawer is quite large and offers a great amount of storage. Please notice that the legs of this English drop leaf table are set far apart so anyone seated at either end has plenty of room for their legs. Both of the drop leaves are supported by pull out slides known as "lopers" that provide stability when each leaf is raised. When both leaves are lowered this table may easily be used as a console table against a wall or behind a sofa. With one leaf raised the serving area of the table is increased and it becomes a dining table for three. When both leaves are raised this table will fit four people with ease. When opened the table measures 43" wide x 42" deep x 30" high.
