Antique English Solid Iron Mahogany Table England circa 1890

This handsome antique English solid cast iron mahogany table from England circa 1890 has a crest on the front apron along with four slanted legs that were originally bolted to the floor for stability. The texture of the iron and the unusual corner profile to each leg indicates its use in an industrial setting. The top is made from a single piece of mahogany timber with a superb grain pattern. Mahogany, because of its marvelous density and durability, was used quite often where a long lasting material was called for. Now both the iron and mahogany have been polished and waxed in order for the table to be installed and used in a residential setting where the combination of wood and metal give it a particularly modern appeal.
