Antique French Louis XV Cherry Buffet à Deux-Corps Cabinet circa 1770

An antique French Louis XV period cherrywood buffet à deux-corps cabinet from France circa 1770. The luscious cherry timber inlaid with fruitwood and ebony in the form of five sided stars and a basket of flowers give this antique French cabinet a superb appeal. In English, buffet à deux corps literally means a buffet in two parts, an upper and lower cabinet as seen here that both open to reveal plenty of secure storage. Notice how both sections are opened with a key as during the eigthteenth century servants had the run of the house and valuable items of silver, porcelain and linens were kept in locked locations. Please use the enlarge and zoom function offered on our website to see the handsome details as well as the gorgeous patina of the waxed timber.  All four cabinet doors open to reveal shelving and are attached to the cabinet with the original long steel hinges. Perfect for electronics, clothing, tableware or to display a collection this prime example of antique French cabinet making sets a high bar when compared to machine made modern reproduction furniture.
