Antique French Cast Iron Bistro Table Stamped Paul, Bordeaux France circa 1875

The superb modern lines of this antique French bistro table circa 1875 are hallmarks of pieces from the workshop of Paul located in Bordeaux France. The simple solid cast iron circular base has a gentle rise from the outer edge to the centre where the three curved iron legs flare up and outward. Please notice the distinctive maker's emblem "Paul Bordeaux", placed prominently in a raised rectangle on the base to ensure to a client they were indeed purchasing the very best iron bistro table available on the market at the end of the nineteenth century. The top of the table is made of zinc notable for its ability to withstand inclement weather with a minimum of wear. The base of the table is attached to the underside of the zinc top with an array of circular rims secured by hand placed rivets visible on the top of the table. We love how the top of the table is slightly bent from being picked up and moved repeatedly over the years. These unmistakeable signs of age give such pleasure as they mark the passage of time in a tactile manner. Suitable for use indoors or out, for dining al fresco or as a side table between chairs or the end of a sofa, this antique French bistro table is a wonderful use of industrial materials encountered in many examples at the end of the nineteenth century that translate well to a modern interior today.
