This handsome antique French Louis XVI round walnut table from France circa 1885 features a parquet top and apron along with two drawers and two candle slides. The circular top features a section of carefully arranged pieces of walnut veneer laid in a parquet pattern to resemble an elaborate floor. In addition, the apron of the French game table is also inlaid with walnut in a herringbone pattern and continues across each drawer to encircle the entire table. All four legs have a slender tapered profile that became popular at the end of the 1700's in France and are embellished with narrow lines of inlaid satinwood. Although this table was originally designed for gaming it is an excellent choice for an intimate dining table or table between two large chairs.
