Antique French Louis Philippe Oak Table France circa 1850
The wonderful rustic quality of this antique French oak table constructed during the Louis Philippe period in France circa 1850 is visible from every direction. The squared off legs are joined by a stretcher for stability and there is a drawer in the front apron opened with the two iron knobs. The top has a series of oak timber boards laid side by side and framed with an oak board at the left and right side. We are not sure why there is a branded number on the right apron board but to us we love this unexplained detail. Because the table is finished on all four sides it may be used in many different places in an interior with equal effect. The aged texture of the oak timber and its obvious age (look at the base of the legs where the marks from water exposure are seen) give this table a unique appeal. We have left the surface unwaxed but it may certainly be waxed and polished should a more reflective sheen be desired.
