Antique French Louis Philippe Period Walnut Piano Stool Bench Seat France circa 1840

Antique French Louis Philippe period walnut piano stool seat France circa 1840. This handsomely simple piano stool seat contains its original iron mechanism concealed inside that enables the circular seat to be raised and lowered as needed. Please use the enlarge and zoom features offered on our website for each photograph to see the details. The wide frame of the circular top allows the seat cushion to be fully padded (now covered with a teal Edelman leather affixed with nail head trim) for a comfortable experience while playing. The column base is a tapered hexagon with six equal slabs of walnut timber carefully mounted together without any visible joinings. There are three equally spaced sloped feet that elevate the piano bench and each one demonstrates the hand made nature of the bench as they are all slightly different in their shape and profile. This was obviously a well loved and used article of furniture as the walnut surface has acquired a fantastic pattern of wear over the years that add immeasurably to its appeal. The warm color of the walnut and the beauty of the patina have resulted in a very desirable seat for continued use in a modern home.
