Antique French Louis Philippe Walnut Buffet Credenza France circa 1860

The handsome simplicity of this antique French Louis Philippe walnut buffet credenza from France circa 1860. Also known in France as a "bas d'armoire" because the low cabinet has two doors and no drawers and is essentially a "low armoire". The focus of this French buffet credenza is on the excellent quality of the walnut timber used throughout with an especial emphasis on the inset door panels of a special type of figured burl walnut. The enchanting movement of the walnut grain seen on the left and right cabinet door is particularly beautiful. Both doors open fully to reveal an interior storage space doubled in capacity because of the shelf extending from side to side. Always designed and crafted to be seen and enjoyed from all sides this Louis Philippe buffet has inset panels on the left and right sides as well as being elevated on shaped feet. The beautiful depth and warmth of the patina results from years of waxing and polishing that has produced a wonderful gleam to the walnut timber.
