Antique French Round Boule Bread Baskets circa 1900 Priced Each

A rustic antique French Boulangerie boule proving basket with a linen liner, known as a banneton, from Brittany, France, circa early 1900s. These round baskets were used in bakeries or boulangeries throughout France. The willow basket provided structure for a round loaf of bread, while the natural linen lining wicked moisture from the crust during proofing. The lining is hand-sewn to the basket with twine. After rising, the dough was removed from the basket to bake and then put back in the basket to cool. These baskets are becoming scarce as they are no longer being actively used in bread making. Multiple baskets are available. Liners show a dark patina, light fraying due to use. Baskets are in excellent antique condition. Priced each for sale.
