Art Deco Period Vintage French Maplewood Desk France circa 1930

The rectangular body of this vintage French Art Deco desk from France circa 1930 contains a cabinet section and an area for a chair to be pulled up on each side. There is an additional surface in a half moon shape set at a lower level than the desk top on both sides of this French desk. These extra surfaces enlarge the useful area of the vintage desk while retaining the simplicity of Art Deco design. When the cabinet door is opened the original two pull out drawers are revealed. These drawers enhance the function of this desk because the door may be left open and away when seated to allow full access to the interior. The beautiful color of the maple is quite modern and speaks to the range of colors used during the Art Deco period. The shape of this Art Deco desk is quite simple yet visually powerful.
