Modern Bespoke English Oval Oak Trestle Dining Table from England

A beautiful  modern bespoke English trestle dining table constructed of hand-planed oak with a border of yew wood around the perimeter from England. Please notice the bevelled edge and the thickness of the top. It stands upon a base consisting of a pair of turned columns with ring details at either end resting on a scrolled base and joined by a long stretcher giving the table its name as a trestle table. This type of table base originated in Italy and France and was always fully visible as the custom was to place the chairs against the walls, not around the table. The top was always rectangular but the oval top affords more seating space and ensured that no guest bumps against the legs. The surface of the table is particularly beautiful as the hand-planed timber has an irregularity that absorbs and refracts the light available in the room.
