Vintage French Painted Iron Chandelier Art Nouveau Period France circa 1910

A fabulous vintage French floral motif iron chandelier from the Art Nouveau period in France circa 1910 with a painted finish. Please take a moment to use the zoom feature on our website to see the amazingly life like detail of the floral blossoms and vines that are featured on this unique chandelier. The entire chandelier remains intact from the unusual canopy at the top to the original iron supports from which the fixture is suspended. The chandelier is a paean to the flourishing exuberance of nature and showcases the flush of flowers in full bloom. The structure of the chandelier is of two circular rings joined by six vertical strips of iron all with a hammered and textured finish. Across this symmetrical frame is a delightful variety of vines and leaves embellished with hand made blossoms that show each individual petal. There are three sections of a pair of lights spaced equally around the circumference of the chandelier and each pair of lights is centred on a boldly scaled blossom. All over the chandelier is the beautifully weathered texture of the painted finish that highlights the work of the ironmonger who created the fixture. The subtle variegation in the paint colours (several have been used to achieve a layered effect) maximizes the lovely movement of the iron shapes. The juxtaposition of the geometric frame and the organic line of the floral motif creates an intriguing contrast that casts a spell when viewed from any direction. The chandelier has been rewired for American electricity and is ready to be installed by a qualified electrician.
