Modern French Industrial Steel Frame and Smoked Glass Top Coffee Table France circa 1970

A modern French Industrial tubular steel frame coffeetable from France circa 1970 with a sleek oval smoked glass top. The striking profile of this table base showcases its modernist origin both in the material employed as well as the open framework design. By using tubular steel the designer created an industrial aesthetic for a residential piece of furniture. The low slung appearance of the table was deliberately chosen as all seating moved to a much lower height during this period. The table retains its oval smoked glass top which was especially popular during France and Italy during the 1970's when it was considered quite chic.
