Antique Chinese "Guanyin" Porcelain Figure Kuang Hsu period China circa 1875

A standing antique Chinese "Guanyin" hand made porcelain figure from Kuang Hsu period China circa 1875. This serene figure is the "Goddess of Mercy" in Chinese lore and this figure is unusual for its inclusion of a child. The beautifully draped robes along with the lavish decoration (not only coloured but also raised from the surface) indicate her benevolent interest in life but also her desire for prosperity both in abundant offspring but also in material goods represented by the strand of beads and purse suspended from her left hand. Please note the figure is finished completely in the round and was meant to be placed on a table to be seen from any direction. Please note the red wax seal on the underside denoting the Chinese government's approval of age and exportability to another country.
