Huge Romeo Rega Italian Brass and Chrome Etagere circa 1970

A stunning large scale Romeo Rega vintage Italian chrome and brass etagere shelving unit from Italy circa 1975. Rega's use of brilliant chrome and brass was a signature hallmark as he joined in with the designers Willy Rizzo and Gabriella Crespi to create a new definition of glamorous Italian design in the 1970's. The Parisian designer Pierre Vandel and the American designer Milo Baughman were also active during this period and joined the Italians in using a streamlined aesthetic incorporating materials that spoke to this modern era. Please enlarge the photographs to see the amazing choice of open spaces set in an asymmetrical manner that create this distinctive shelving unit. Perhaps most interestingly this modern Italian etagere has a dedicated space for vinyl LP's which of course was a crucial element of 1970's La Dolce Vita! All of the original shelves are made of smoked glass with several of the shelves sliding into chrome sleeves (please see photographs). The spare aesthetic of this chrome brass shelving unit remains super contemporary and the enormous scale is quite rare.
