(On Hold) Louis Philippe Antique French Walnut Buffet Credenza Enfilade France circa 1860

(On Hold) A Louis Philippe antique French buffet credenza enfilade from France circa 1860 with modern lines having three drawers and three cabinet doors. The elegantly simple profile of this antique buffet credenza has a contemporary feel enhanced by the beauty of the walnut timber used in its construction. Highly figured walnut was chosen before this French cabinet was constructed and used to best visual advantage. All three drawers and all three cabinet doors open fully to allow access to the entire interior for storage and we have left the original green fabric lining inside as a sign of its age. Of course we are happy to remove it if you desire. The top three drawers were alaways meant for general use a they are opened by pulling on the iron know. But the lower cabinet doors are opened with a key and would have been opened only by the housekeeper who had the key in her possession. This technique of controlled lock and key allowed valuable items for the household to be stored safely. The entire Louis Philippe cabinet is elevated on shaped bracket feet used during the Louis Philippe period (1830-1848) and has an elegant soigné feel.
