Louis XV Style Vintage French Painted Iron Marble Top Console Table circa 1940

A beautiful Louis XV style vintage French painted iron console table circa 1940 with the original grey marble top shaped to fit the exuberant profile of the iron base. This French console table harks back to the extraordinary creations developed by master metal maker's in the eighteenth century who developed brilliant methods of adorning staircases, balconies and free standing tables to enrich the decoration. Durable and able to be made into any shape imaginable the art of forged and wrought iron has been practiced for centuries in France as well as Italy. Powerful "C" scrolled curves, a stylized urn in the center base and a fanciful ribbon candy pattern in the apron contribute to an averall tour de force of french imagination. The original marble top has been cut to follow the shape of the iron console table base and has a lovely beveled edge along its entire perimeter.
