A large antique Chinese Ming period famille verte shallow bowl platter with a raised rim from China circa 1750. This exceptionally large piece of enameled porcelain expresses its representation of the natural world by both its impressive patterned design as well as the lush use of colours in the finish. The circular shape is emphasized by the raised rim around the perimetre. The interior of the bowl features an abundance of floral design while the interior rim is decorated with a series of designs separated by the use of colour including the predominant green that gives it the name "famille verte", French for family of green.
