Pair Italian Mid Century Modern Armchairs Italy circa 1965, Walnut Trimmed Arms
A pair of mid century modern Italian armchairs circa 1965 each having walnut trim on the arms and standing on casters with a separate upholstered cushion. The wonderful lateral spread of these armchairs with faux leather upholstery places them firmly in the design world of the mid to late 20th century where their shape became a defined focal point within an interior. The slant to the back, sides and front all combine to emphasize the modern and sleek silhouette of these chairs while the separate cushion was added to provide essential comfort. The chairs stand upon their original wheeled casters as they were designed to be moved about a space with ease to wherever they most fit what was happening. Please use the zoom feature offered on our website to see the subtle details that make these chairs so desirable as artifacts from an earlier era that still possess overwhelming appeal. Each chair is constructed in a manner to enclose the separate seat cushion so the chair always retains its sharp shape and edge. Both arms on each chair are highlighted with a strip of raised walnut timber that provide a stopping point for an arm resting upon the top edge. The seat back of each chair also uses the age old method of button tufting to accentuate an otherwise smooth surface to provide visual contrast. These chairs have an intrinsic appeal and will be a comfortable and stylish addition to a variety of interiors whether the design is entirely modern or a mixture of transitional style.
