Pair of Antique Italian Renaissance Style Bronze Candlesticks Italy circa 1850

A pair of antique Italian hand cast Renaissance style bronze candlesticks of baluster form Italy circa 1850. These handsome bronze candlesticks each have substantial weight while having the most elegant simple profile. The circular base of each candlestick has a raised dome that supports the central column of turned baluster form. the term baluster refers to the upright spindle of a staircase support usually constructed of timber with its  shape achieved by turning it upon a lathe. The large circular pan with its inverted shallow shape is to capture any dripping wax from a burning candle so it will not spill upon a table. The lustre of the bronze is marvelously appealing and engenders a desire to pick up and touch these candlesticks. Whether displayed singly or as apart of a larger collection of bronze these candlesticks will be a delightful focal point especially when used with lit candles.
