Pair Vintage Chinese Ceramic Temple Jar Lamps circa 1995

The elegant monochromatic beauty of this pair of Chinese temple jar lamps is wonderful. The taupe coloured glazed ceramic vases were converted to custom lamps circa 1995 and each lamp has been wired for American electricity. Notice the superb proportion between the gentle curve of the vase as it tapers to a slightly flared base as well as the related proportion of the cap that follows the profile of the base. From the first time the temple vase form was invented in ancient China the simplicity and restraint of the overall shape was highly prized for its pure expression of balance and symmetry. The purity of the taupe coloured glaze is uniform throughout each vase and presents as a lovely sculptural shape in an interior.
