Pair Vintage French Louis XVI Black Ebonized Chests France circa 1920

A pair of Louis XVI style vintage French black ebonized chest of drawers from France circa 1920. The classic styling of this pair of chests descends from the handsome Neoclassical period of the late eighteenth century when Louis XVI was King of France. The lustrous and reflective black lacquer ebonized finish highlights every detail seen across the front and sides and emphasizes the architectural inspiration of Neoclassicism. The rectangular gilt bronze drawer pulls are entirely Louis XVI in style and their golden gleam is a dramatic contrast to the midnight black lacquer. Please enlarge the photographs to see details such as the rounded front corners at the front of each chest as well as the cylindrical shape of each of the four legs. Because this pair of Louis XVI style chests were always intended to be seen from every direction they are full finished on the top, front and both sides.
