Rare Pair Vintage Italian Terra Cotta Chairs circa 1930 by Manifattura di Signa

This pair of vintage Italian terra cotta chairs circa 1930 are by the fabled Florentine company Manifattura di Signa originally located outside of Florence. During its life (founded in 1895) the workshop developed a reputation for the faithful recreation of Classical and Renaissance designs suitable for use in gardens and interiors. This famous pair depicts winged lions seen fully in the round with heads, claws and wrap around wings and tails visible. The sculptural impact of the design cannot be underestimated as these pieces were made to use providing comfortable seating while strolling out of doors. Upon request we will send a photograph of these chairs covered in snow upon an open loggia when we purchasd them. Terra cotta is a durable material made to withstand changes in weather conditions.
