Pair Antique French Walnut Panels circa 1900

A pair of handsome walnut panels from France circa 1900 each featuring a carved design of a shell supported by five brackets. Resting on the shelf is the famous Italian fish with an upturned tail that first made its appearance during the Renaissance as a favoured decorative motif. Behind each fish is a tall slender vase from which cascades an abundance of fruit and foliage. Flanking each of the shelves are stylized reeds and fronds. These pieces were always a pair as evidenced by the fact that they face each other when they are hanging. They are beautifully decorative and the walnut is a warm rich colour. Price:  $1,482.00 for the pair
