Pietro Chiesa Style Glass Brass Fixture for Fontana Arte, Italy circa 1950

This modern Italian light fixture is attributed to the famous designer Pietro Chiesa asked by Geo Ponte to contribute designs to FontanaArte circa 1940. The this slab of clear glass is suspended between slender vertical supports of polished brass with a single horizontal brass bar at the base suspends five individual sockets for chandelier bulbs. This essentially contemporary design combines the transparency of glass within the shimmer of reflective brass to create a light fixture chandelier that essentially disappears as it provides illumination. The light at the base is directed down and out at a low wattage while the see through glass slab contributes to its sense of weightlessness both visually and graphically. Now wired for American electricity and ready to be installed.
