SIX Vintage French Os de Mouton Dining Chairs circa 1950

A set of six vintage French os de mouton dining chairs circa 1950. These handsome chairs first made their appearance during the reign of Louis XIII in the early seventeenth century. Known as "os e mouton" or leg of the sheep the name is derived from the shape of a leg after it has been shorn of its wool. Still produced today because of its striking profile this set of chairs has been stripped of its old fabric and is ready to be reupholstered. Please enlarge all the photographs to see the details in closeup including the holes made by the old upholstery nails! The seats measure 17" high and will be a little higher after the fabric is applied.
