Tall Antique French Painted Henri II Oak Bibliothèque circa 1890

This tall antique French Henri II style carved and painted oak bibliotheque bookcase display cabinet circa 1890 has a striking exterior. Celebrating the arts and music the base of each cabinet door features a handsome sculpture using emblems of these pursuits to provide a sculptural representation. Enclosed within bold scale molding which is repeated around the original glass doors above the sculpture appear to be suspended from ribbons and intertwined with foliage. Please notice the tambourine and sheaf of music on the left and an artist's palette, ruler and sheet of scrolled paper on the right. The full length pair of cabinet doors are flanked by turned ribbon twist columns which are fully visible from every direction and stand free of the cabinet and again emphasize the sculptural effect of this French bibliotheque bookcase. There is a carved flourish above the doors set within the crown centered on a shield medallion while the drawer below the cabinet doors is pulled open by using the stylized lion head set in the center of the flourish. This French painted cabinet also has four adjustable shelves on the interior able to be arranged to showcase any collection or to support a television.
