Tall Vintage Danish Mid-Century Modern Scandinavian Teak Buffet, Denmark circa 1960, Original Label

A tall vintage Danish mid century modern Scandinavian teak buffet with its original label from Denmark circa 1960. This striking mid century buffet from Scandinavia, Denmark to be precise, has a unique finish as the old finish has been completely removed leaving the pale lustrous teak to be seen on every side. The unusual height of this vintage buffet provides an exceptional amount of storage while its shallow depth ensures it is a functional piece even in the smallest of spaces. There are six drawers at the base of this Danish buffet and each drawer has an integral handle with a curled profile created to fit precisely within the fingers of a hand when opening. The top cabinet is accessed not by pulling the doors open in a wide swing as usual but by sliding the doors from side to side. The pair of inner doors have a recessed handle space while the door on the left and right have the same curl as the lower drawers. There are adjustable shelves in the upper section that give a tremendous variety of options for storing objects. All of the edges on this buffet have a gently curved edge including the raised legs. The continuity of design visible from every angle give this Danish buffet a stylistic integrity that remains as desirable today as when it was first created. The original label affixed by Danish authorities remains on the heavy glass pull out shelf (used for drinks preparation so spills do not affect the timber) and identifies the buffet as an authentic example of true Danish craftsmanship.
