Italian Tuscan Walnut Custom Finished Credenza Buffet Italy
An imposing Italian custom walnut finished credenza buffet found in Italy inspired by the handsome originals from the region of Tuscany. Please notice the pleasing proportion of the entire piece with the top that extends wider and deeper than the cabinet and the solid plinth base reminiscent of the best ancient Classical architecture. The facade of the cabinet is distinguished by the four pilasters (flattened structural supports) that extend from top to bottom whose profile extends slightly forward from the entire body. These strong vertical lines serve to visually anchor the eye and frame the two pairs of cabinet doors. Each pair of doors are rectangular in shape with a recessed panel centred on a circular brass pull that opens each door to reveal the interior storage space bisected with a shelf. To further the balance of the cabinet the left and right corners as well as the exact centre feature a turned column in the earliest Doric style with the slight taper known in architecture as "entasis". Each column has a ring turning at the top and bottom and is framed within a square enclosure. This change in shape and profile from flat to in the round gives a great deal of interest to the appearance and serves to enhance the play of light across the entire cabinet. There are two drawers placed directly above the cabinet doors that each feature a centre circular brass ring pull identical to those seen on the doors below. Again please note the precise location of all the elements of the credenza and how they all reinforce the goal of symmetry and balance. When viewed from the side the credenza is equally pleasing as the column is seen fully in the round and there is an inset panel set within a moulded frame. All of the horizontal moulding seen on the front of the credenza extends along the sides as well and gives a finished appearance to the overall cabinet. The lustrous walnut finish has a beautiful gleam with a rich and luxurious impression. Whether used as a dining room accompaniment or with a flat screen television this is an excellent addition to a room's decoration given its fine quality and distinctive look.
