Vintage French Empire Style Mahogany Marble Top Buffet circa 1920

A chic vintage French Empire style mahogany buffet with a marble top circa 1920. The modern lines, elegant profile. superb material and excellent craftsmanship make this vinatge buffet as desirable today as when it was first created. Empire style, first created at the beginning of the nineteenth century when Napoleon I ruled France, took its inspiration from the ancient Classical civilizations of Greece and Rome. The entire cabinet is sheathed in striking pale mahogany with a beautiful grain and the four columns are fully turned to stand clear of the front of the Empire buffet. Notice how the grain of the mahogany adds to the visual appeal of the piece. Do enlarge all the photographs to see the details of this French cabinet from every angle. The gilded bronze collars around each of the columns and the drawer pulls provide a glamorous addition seen in period originals when there was only candlelight and firelight to illuminate an interior. The stone top has a rich grey color and has a smooth honed finish to provide a seamless appearance with the overall appearance of the buffet as well as making it easy to use for serving and display.
