Antique English Tunstall Ware Porceain Pottery Pitcher Coffee Pot circa 1840, Marked

This unique French style pottery coffee pot is antique English circa 1840 with the Maker's stamp on the underside. The pattern is Adams and features the Great Seal of the United States with a Bald Eagle carrying both an olive branch and four arrows in its talons. The sensuous shape of the coffee pot or teapot is from eighteenth century France and has a raised pattern of foliage around the upper section of the vessel with additional decoration to emphasize the rounded nature of the design. Originally this French teapot would have been made of silver but most silver designs were manufactured in high quality porcelain to increase their availability. The original lid remains with the teapot.
