Carl Moore - Antiques Vintage Modern offers a compelling collection that shows a contemporary eye for mixing 18th century antiques with 20th century modern pieces to create spaces that delight and enchant. Every item is personally sourced from overseas and chosen for its memorable effect. Whether in the showroom or shopping our website the range of choices from new to old presents a unique opportunity for acquiring distinctive objects.
Geoffrey Westergaard is the owner of Carl Moore Antiques, Inc. and has been an active member of the Houston design and collecting community for over thirty years. The shop specializes in European and Asian antique, vintage and modern furnishings.
"As our lives have evolved over the years so has the idea of what constitutes an interior", says Westergaard and this ethos is the driving force behind the pursuit and acquisition of fascinating objects. Aware of balance, texture, scale and color, he brings an educated eye based on his extensive travels (over fifty countries) as well as a degree in Art History and Business from Rice University.
Adopting the famous Miesian dictate, "Less is more", he looks forward to sharing his vision of what makes antiques desirable and why they are especially valuable for a modern interior.
Born here (yes, a native Houstonian!) Geoffrey has been attending the Theta Show since its days at the Albert Thomas Convention center which is now the Bayou Center across the street from the Wortham Theater. He enjoys hiking and scuba diving in addition to traveling. Favorite destinations include Italy and Bhutan as well as South Africa where the shark diving was unforgettable. Reading about design and architecture (never enough time) and writing articles for publication are also rewarding and pleasurable activities.
After studying at Texas A&M and the University of Houston earning a degree in Communications/Media Writing, Chett Heitman joined CMA in 2000 with a love of history... Texas, military and sports. In his first year at Carl Moore he new found love for European history. He appreciates taking designers and clients back in time and talking about how people used to live and how that influenced design. As well as discussing how design/architecture dictated by monarchs and what that meant from one generation to the next is influential in comprehending what transpired in 20th century design. If you have visited our website it's readily apparent that we enjoy bringing the past alive! Whether you come in the store, call us or shoot us an email we are happy to share our passion with you. Outside of work Chett enjoys spending time with his family (Tricia, Emma & Noah) traveling, playing golf, reading and volunteering at his church.
Connie Schlageter developed a passion for design at an early age and always knew she was compelled to explore the interior design profession. As a young girl she always enjoyed rearranging her parent’s furniture, from their living room to her bedroom. After graduating from Houston Community College with an interior design degree she began her career as a design assistant. Through her passion for design she found a love for antiques and mid-century furniture. Connie joined the Carl Moore team in 2011 and believes in building personal relationships with her clients to better understand their needs. She is inspired to reach out to next generation and help them understand the story that each object leaves behind. "Education is important here at Carl Moore (which you’ll notice through our descriptions) and I personally enjoy the romantic aspect of history I am able to bring to life when discussing design." When not at work Connie enjoys exploring all that Houston has to offer, such as local shops and cuisine. She also spends her free time with her “soon to be” husband, Jes and two children, Tyler and Alexa.
